Volunteer for the Holiday Program

Every year the goal is to provide each family with a week’s worth of non-perishable food in November and again in December.  When funds allow, grocery gift cards are also included.  In November, clients also receive a voucher for coats and warm clothing.  In December, children 16 and under receive  gifts. Holiday Program -

  • Thanksgiving Program was held on Saturday, Nov.19th from 8 am - 3 pm. LINK served 767 families food for 3 - 5 days, $21,696 in grocery gift cards, 2100 gently used and new coats, 1650 hats, gloves, scarves and 1600+ winter clothing items (sweaters, sweatshirts, etc.).
  • Christmas Program was held on Saturday, Dec. 17th from 8 am - 3 pm. LINK served 772 families (4300+ individuals) received food for 3 – 5 days, $19,765 in grocery gift cards, and 4500+ new toys for children newborn – 16 years of age.

This important holiday program occurs twice annually because of the large outpouring of the community—food, funds, and volunteers—and the grace of God, much larger than what the LINK member churches could do on their own.

In 2016, LINK served a total of 1612 families. Most of our families are registered for both events.


In addition to the week's worth of food, LINK provided:

  1. Over 5,500 Coats & other (hats, gloves, etc.)
  2. Over 4,500 Toys
  3. And $41,461 in Grocery Gift Cards

LINK sincerely appreciates the many businesses, groups, and churches that conducted food drives, clothing drives and toy drives for our Holiday Program. While the list below is long, it is possible that within all the chaos that surrounds these events that someone was overlooked.  For this we sincerely apologize.

In addition, we would like to thank the many private schools and public schools in Fairfax County and Loudoun County who generously conducted food drives, toy drives, and coat drives for LINK. The students, staff and teachers worked tirelessly to see that donations were successful and we are very grateful!


We appreciate our member churches and friends of LINK who put in hours and hours of time to put together a successful Holiday Program. Thank you to our LINK Board Members, Boy Scout troops, Girl Scout troops, church youth groups, and so many others who helped in big and small ways!
